The Youngstown Playhouse has been entertaining audiences of all ages with quality performances since 1924. Conveniently located midway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, we are considered to be one of the oldest continuously operating community theatres in the country.
The Playhouse is a non-profit community theater with a mission to present quality theatre arts performances, provide educational initiatives, and establish and maintain community partnerships while supporting and participating in the revitalization of the city of Youngstown.
We accomplish our mission with the following commitments:
- To develop an appreciation of theater as a participatory art form. To develop and promote opportunities that broaden participation, education, and opportunities for artists, educators, volunteers, and others who support creative community involvement.
To support and encourage participation in activities that enrich, relate, and contribute to the Mahoning Valley arts and cultural community.
To remain an integral part of the community through programs, involvement, leadership, and service.
To recruit, develop, and retain persons with aptitudes and interests in theater.
To develop among youth and adults an appreciation of theater.
To develop among youth and adults knowledge and skills related to theater.
Above all, we strive to create a nurturing and caring environment conducive to the enjoyment of experiencing quality live theater.
