The Youngstown Playhouse partners with various community artists on performances in our black box venue the Moyer Room. As these performances are not part of our season, Season Flex Passes cannot be used to attend.

New Castle Lyric Opera Production of

“Storybook Opera”

The New Castle Lyric Opera will present two performances of “Storybook Opera” at The Youngstown Playhouse on Sunday, October 21, 2018.  The one hour, family-friendly show is scheduled at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, and will be performed in the Playhouse Moyer Room.

 

“Storybook Opera” takes its audience on a musical journey through the seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, using a storybook to guide the narrative. Each season presents familiar musical themes and songs from popular operas, highlighting pieces from “Carmen,” “The Magic Flute,” “La Boheme,” and more. 

 

Westminster College voice majors, as interns of the New Castle Lyric Opera, perform in this lively production on October 21st at 3:00 and 5:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door; admission for school-age children is $7 and adult admission is $10.  Moyer Room seating is limited to 75.  The Youngstown Playhouse is located at 600 Playhouse Lane (off Glenwood Avenue) in the historic Idora Park Neighborhood.

The Happiness They Seek: a new play by Rob Zellers.
This play reading will take place on Sunday, August 26, 2018
 at 2:00 PM in the Playhouse Moyer Room.
 Directed by Pat Foltz
 
A private equity takeover artist with a personal history he is trying to escape. A community activist in a desperate struggle to save her dying city. It's 1995 and the last remaining steel mill in Youngstown Ohio is the battleground. No holds barred.  The cast includes Laura Collins Phillips, Nick Kerpsack, Matthew Mazuroski, John Cox, Nick Wic, and Lexi Denney.
There is no charge for tickets, but seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis.

(In)Dependent: The Heroin Project by Emelia Sherin is a play that focuses on the heroin epidemic within the NE Ohio region. 

 Performance dates are August 9, 10 & 11, 2018.                                

All performances begin at 7:30 pm in the Playhouse Moyer Room.  Directed by Sarah Jane Demetruk

This is much more than a show; it's telling 50 real stories through one performance in the hopes to educate the audience on the heroin epidemic happening in our backyards and change the stigma surrounding addiction. Additionally, 50% of the proceeds raised from the show will be donated to the Help Network of Northeast Ohio, an organization that supports addiction help and rehabilitation in the NE Ohio region and the other 50% will go to the Youngstown Playhouse in support of doing more shows like this in the future.  The cast:  Emily - D'Ella Heschmeyer, Ryan - Lennon Sackela, Heroin - Maria Serra, Darla - Liz Conrad, Michael - Brian Suchora, John - Joseph Anastasia, Anne - Rachel Jones, Marsha - Lori George, Gigi - Kaj Beeler, Meredith - Lindie Schwarten, Jobeth - Roz Blystone, Aaron - Josh Crank.  Production Team: Stage Manager - Emelia Sherin, Assistant Stage Manager - Jennifer Demetruk, Design Assistant - Madison Nalbach.
